Lahore…a historical city; more like a historical ruin if I were to appropriately put it. Ironically and sadly, I live in in Anarkali which is one of the innumerable pathetic places in this God forsaken city. We don’t get any water here. It’s Ramzan these days and there has been absolutely NO water in the pipeline for the last 3 days. It’s an everyday headache here. Even when there is little water, the supply gets discontinued at 10:oo AM and comes back some time around the evening. The local Water and Sanatation Authority (May God curse them with some incurable lethal disease) have listed fake phone numbers of complaint cells on Utility bills. Gas pipelines are in the same pitiful conditions. Ours got ruptured and I called emergency 119 and the line was dead…not for a day…but for the entire week.
To sum up the above random accounts I’ve had…you could say Lahore’s extents start at D.H.A, include Gulberg, Model Town and some other high-fi localities and end WAY before you reach the slums district such as the one I live in. The government has totally forgotten about these places and that it’s humans who live here.

Nazim, yes – I’ve sent him an email which in my view would be an effort in futility. I had also tried looking up contact numbers of any relevant government officials…not much luck though. But anyway, the water supply is restored as in we now get water almost 7 hours a day instead of nothing at all…lucky us. With this miracle, I can even brush my teeth before going to the university.
There are so many other issues that people face here. If I started talking about them all, I’d end up writing a book :-\
Well, let this post (and the above) be a glimpse into the morbid and rather realistic side of our city.

6. They earn lots of black money by cheating in Sui Gas, Wapda Electricity & income tax department.

I am in Toronto, Canada and when I watchd the site of Sachal Studios and Raza Rumi site, I was really excited that still there are some great people like Soofi Sahib and Janab Izzat Majeed and their other team who are trying to let alive our heritage of classical/semi-classical music. When I see that our great Artists like Malika-i-Mousiqi Roshan Ara Begum, Ustad Salamat Khan, Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, Ustad Barkat Ali Khan and so many other are no longer with us and further trend towards classical/semi-classical music is not being encouraged generally and this situation Sachal Studios are dong a great job and I can say it a Spiritual uplift as per my own faith Classical/Semi-Classical Music is the only source for Spiritual uplift. I pray to Almighty God for the people who are giving encouragement and real involvement of renowned Ustads including Ustad Nazar Hussain who whom I know since 1988 and who is such a devoted Composer in India/Pakistan whose compositions are lovable which shows the real depth of Surs . His combination of Surs and creating a joyous situation in compositions is a uniqueness of Ustad Nazar Hussain. Why so much loadshedding in Lahore. Its more than 12 hours per day. Where as Islamabad, Karachi, Jehlum and rest of all other cities are just having minimal loadshedding of just 2 hours.

I Needed help of Mr. President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Justice of Pakistan regarding threat of muder from my In-laws side and My wife still stay at my in-laws home last 6 months
It is most respectfully submitted on behalf of the Petitioner above named as under:-
That on 18/11/2009, I the Petitioner above named have take his wife namely Mst. Ghazala Akhtar W/o Muhammad Haroon Khalid Bhatti, D/o Abdul Majeed, to her Parents House at Lahore for casual meeting and I Petitioner resides in my wife’s hose with my wife and her parents and other family members to visiting them for Three days, and the (Respondent No.1) send me / Petitioner by saying that , that yours parents are also in Lahore and they will go back Karachi after Three to Four Days and we will sent your wife them to Karachi.
That I come back to Karachi because I am performing my duties at Karachi in a Private Firm, and my parents who are at that time in Lahore visit my wife’s house to take her with them to Karachi.
That on 27/11/2009, at about 10:00 AM, My (Petitioner) Parents visited to his wife’s Parents house for taking her to Karachi, but on visiting the house the Parents and brother of my wife says that the Condition of Mst.Ghazala Akhtar is not well and we will sent to Karachi to his Husband’s house after some period. Those after that visit from the parents of Petitioner the Parents of Petitioner continuously visited to his wife’s parents house to take her with them but the parents of Mst.Ghazala Akhtar said to them every time that his condition is not well and we will send her by ourselves after completing her bad rest.
That the Parents of Petitioner came back to Karachi at their residing premises on 07/12/2009, and on last day when the parents of the Petitioner visited the house Petitioner wife’s house parents they again said to the parents of petitioner that we would send her Karachi to his husband house.
That the Petitioner called her Wife on 09/12/2009, the wife of the Petitioner said him that they are not sending me to Karachi to your house premises, and in this matter you go to the Police or take legal action against them for not sending me to your house.
That after the conversation of the Petitioner to her wife, the petitioner several times make phone calls to know about his wife but on every call he get the answer that she is not well and we she cannot conversant with you in this condition .
That the petitioner after several times make calls to her wife but all in vain, the petitioner talked to the brother, (Respondent No. 2), for his wife on 16/12/2009, at about 02:30 PM, And the Petitioner said to her wife’s brother that I am coming tomorrow to Lahore for taking her with me to Karachi, on which the Respondent No.2, & the brother of Petitioner’s wife clearly say on Telephone that if you will come to Lahore for taking her with you, I will kill both of you.
That on dated 15/12/2009, the Petitioner had sent an application by fax to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) at Police Station Shareefpura, Lahore, Pakistan, about the incident but no any answer of this letter forwarded to the Petitioner from the Police Officials or Department in the matter.
That on dated 16/12/2009, the Petitioner also sent an application by fax to the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Pakistan, about the incident but no any answer of this letter forwarded to the Petitioner up till now from the Police Officials or Department in the matter.
That after this Threat of killing from the Brother of Petitioner’s wife, the Parents and the Brother of the Petitioner’s Wife disappeared the Wife of the Petitioner namely Mst.Ghazala Akhtar.
That the Father of the Petitioner’s Wife and Respondent No.1, came at Karachi in the Month of February 2010, and visited the Petitioner house and said that we would not sent our daughter to Karachi at the resident of his husband, but in one way if the Petitioner shifted to Lahore then I will send my daughter to the house of his husband in Lahore and he after that meeting went to Lahore.
That the Father of the Petitioner and the Respondent No.1, Said the Petitioner at the time of meeting in the house of Petitioner that you also give me the amount of Rs.50, 00,000/-(Rupees Fifty Lac Only) which the Petitioner give her wife before the Court at the time of performing Court Marriage as a Surety on a Judicial Stamp as Surety Bond of Rs.50, 00,000/-(Rupees Fifty Lac Only) to her wife namely Mst. Ghazala Akhtar.
That the Father of the Petitioner and Respondent No.!, gave threat that did not Know me, and I have relations with M.N.A & Federal Minister namely SAMINA GHURKI, and I am also Secret Advisor to the President of Pakistan, and you do nothing to me, and you have to pay the above mentioned Demand otherwise I will make your Murder.
That the Petitioner on dated 22/03/2010, again talked to the Father of his Wife, Respondent No. 1, that I am filing a Case of Conjugal Rights before the Honorable Concerned Court of Law, against you, on which the Respondent No 1, answered that if you filed any Case or Application against us I will Kill you and your wife, and there is no any Legal proceeding and action will take place against me.
That the wife of the Petitioner is Pregnant, and she will complete he pregnancy period about next Tow to Three Months.
That the Petitioner is afraid that his and his wife’s and coming baby’s life is in serious danger from the Respondent No 1 & 2 and the Petitioner did not Know the condition of her wife for the last -Months.

I am looking into the history of the Sufi Naqshbandi Tariqat in Pakistan and have found that one of the Shaykhs of the Golden Chain, As Sayyid Nur Muhammad al Badawani was buried in Lahore. After many internet searches, I have not found his mazar. I was wondering if anyone knows about this shaykh in lahore or where he is buried, maybe he is known by a different name.

Instead of providing any relief to the people, government’s tactics to resort to mini budgets is not only causing manifold increase in inflation but is also resulting in huge unemployment and discontentment amongst the population, said the chairman Jeevay Pakistan Jeevay Muqami Hakumat (JPJM) movement, Danyal Aziz in a press statement issued on Monday.
The realse issued from the central secretariat of the JPJM in Islamabad further reveals that first prices of petrol and now increase in the rates of electricity has become too big a burden for the working and lower middle classes of the country. Unable to cope with the repeated mini budgets of the government, Danyal Aziz said that Pakistan is ranked as fifth poorest country in South Asia while this resource rich country is currently ranked at 100th position in the world of nations. He said these statistics are from the recent World Bank report which also reveals that only in one year the unemployment has gone up by 5.5 per cent as compared to previous year. He said that as UNDP report the per capita income of almost 23 per cent of Pakistani nation is only Rs 100 (US $ 1.25).
Under these circumstances, JPJM Chairman said that his movement has taken up the task to create more awareness amongst the urban and rural centers of Pakistan to expose the ruling elite of the country. The current fiscal discipline and bad governance has led to develop even a bigger hedge between the haves and have-nots in this country as a result of which poor households are finding it very hard to eat two meals a day.
Danyal Aziz said that instead of improving the governance and financial order to control inflation and unemployment in the country, both federal and all provincial governments government are busy benefiting the rich and influential. One such example is the recent decrease in interest rates by the State Bank of Pakistan, which in the short and long term is going to benefit only the elite and industrialists whereas middle class and lower middle class will have to suffer even more inflation.
Lamenting all the political parties, both in coalition government and outside the coalition, Danyal said that none of the political party has got any agenda to bring the country out of this abysmal situation, therefore are trying to hoodwink the people by telling them blatant lies. He said that even after devastating floods in Sindh this year, neither Sindh nor federal government has taken any austerity measures as a result of which not only international donors are developing negative opinion about our country but are not ready to lend any money to the government.

History of Present Illness:-
Milestone of M. Tayyab Umer are not fully achieved. At the age of 5, he started to walk even but after that he couldn’t walk properly because of muscles weakness. At the age of 12, some medical tests were taken to find the actual reason of his disability.
Later on, he was sent to C.M.H Rawalpindi for proper treatment. But there was no as much improvement, after some time he faced the acidity problem and some other stomach problems. So he was referred to C.M.H Lahore. But here, under treatment his health went weakened day by day. The doctors told that his lungs got leakage and couldn’t breathe normally. So doctors suggested for immediate operation, in which the different tubes fixed in his lungs. His health went down rapidly, gradually and he remained under treatment for one year. But during that period he became unable to move. He stayed at bed for one whole year.
Later, the doctors’ report claimed that he has the disease of Muscular Dystrophy. In which the muscles of the body weakens with the passage of time.
Present Condition:-
Now he is age of 25 year and at this stage, he can not be cured properly. He can’t move properly, even while sleeping he is unable to change his body position. His fine and gross movements are weak. He is on wheelchair now. Only arm’s muscles are little better than over all muscles.

I know that he can’t be cured at this stage. But I still hopeful maybe any physiotherapy or other therapeutic techniques may become useful for him which makes him an independent member of the society. So I request you to please provide him an Electric Wheelchair. Which will be very useful?. For his effective mobility, the only solution is Electric Wheelchair. This will address his problem and would work like moving on his feet and legs. This would enable him to move around and earn to leave with.

This is the month of June. The sweltering heat is punishing all souls good or bad. The weather has taken ugly turn. No respite in sight No rains al all.

Do they have any conscience that ever pricks or feel the pain for other’s plight. I think not. Because they have no pangs over the problems of others. Who do not matter at all.
Two terrible incidents have happened in Pakistan recently. One incident relates to the biggest fuck up by the scurity force at the Karachi Airport. The terrorists attacked the airport with missiles, hand grenade and sophisticated weapons. They entered dramatically violating the security. It was not only security lapse but break up of civil administration to avoid such security breach.
The airport security guards were the first martyrs. The police and rangers were immediately mobilized and took positions, sealing the airport. The D.g rangers monitored the operation. Later the Corp Commander Karachi Joined in and commanded the on going operation. Their valiant effort saved the day for the country.
At last the military operation was launched. The Prime Minister finally gave in due to tremendous public pressure in favor the action.The entire nation supported the decision. And stands by its valiant and brave soldiers in this Zarb -e- Azb operation. There is no hesitation on the part of any political party to support the armed forces.
But all the unity has been destroyed by a foolish misadventure of the Punjab government, which has undone everything.The Punjab police’s dastardly attack on the residence of TAQ, tells the story of this botched planned operation. All have condemned this police violence and State terrorism, with one voice. Even the administration has grudgingly accepted and condemned its own action. We witnessed the police brutality all day long.The police straight shot men , women and all. Eight persons including two women were killed in this brutal firing on the innocent empty handed people.
We condemn this police violence against the citizens and workers of PAT.This was done to intimidate the PAT leaders and workers. But the ill advised operation boom ranged and now it has become a burden around the neck of the Chief Minister, who can not absolve himself from its blame. Though he has yet ti resign but he ha admitted his guilt in a vague manner.
I would advise the Chief Minister to accept the responsibility, apologize to the nation and resign voluntarily. Go home and think about it and reconcile where he went over board and acceded his limits, and incurred the wrath of Allah the Almighty. Take to the mat and pray for the mercy of Allah to forgive .

The controversy over the dual nationality has riped the nation apart. The sky has fallen. The remittances of the dual nationality holders are welcome but their participation in the affairs of the country can not be accepted. Is it the fear that the will take over the helm of affairs or demand their fair share in the pollitical game.
The controversy has been stretched to the limits unnecesarily. it has created a political storm and upheaval. A dual nationality holde does not loose Pakistani Citizenship. Then how can he be deprived of his fundamental and basic rights enshrined in the Constitution of th Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Unless the Parliament bring changes in the existing laws , no one can take away their right to participate in the elections or cast the vote.
Every Citizen has the right to participate in the affairs of the country. Iy is wrong to suggest that dual nationality holders are lesser citizens or unpatriotic. The whole idea is absurd. It is a Political question and the Courts should abstain from hearing it.
It is in the domain of the Parliament, which must address the issue due to self created controversy. It should remove the existing anomolies in the laws of the land. The dual nationality holders can contribute towards the progress and prosperity of the nation.Their services are valuable for all of us.
Probably the case was not pursued and argued properly before the Court. Since the Court has taken the notice of the allegations of dual nationality of the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif., the matter would be further explored. The affected persons should file the petitions.
The controversy has resulted in the disqualification of lot of Citizens to hold political office for no cogent reason. the fundamental rights have been violated. These basic rights can not be compromised in any shape and form. The decision rendered by the Court has created havoc and has compromised the constitutional position. We must do the right thing. the discriminatory decision must be reviewed and argued properly interpreting the law and the constitutional position correctly.

The Spectre of Load Shedding:
The Spectre of load shedding has been haunting Pakistan. It has become serious over the recent times. This ha been the worst energy Crisis faced by the nation. More than eighteen hours a day scheduled and unscheduled load shedding has caused the economic down turn and slide to worsen the situation. All the industries are dependent on the energy consumption and its growth has stalled and tapered down.
The already reeling economy has received another shock. Perhaps the government is giving shock treatment to the sick industry. the government has failed to put breaks to the unscheduled load shedding. It has no plans to deal effectively with the lingering Crisis. No ploisy has yet been formulated to mitigate the attendant burden on the economy.
The issue of KBD has been shelved conveniently due to opposition to the idea. The lack of political will has caused the problem to grow out of proportions. W must build this dam in the best interest of the nation. The government should also build medium to small dams through building the consensus over this vital project , essential for our existence, and well being. The future of Pakistan has been at stake,. No one should be allowed to play political game in this regard. Other small dams should be built on the Chinese model. we can neglect our agriculture sector.. The drought and food crisis has been looming in the back.
We must seize the moment to come out of the energy crisis. The case of load shedding is kike the multiple headed monster cut one the other will grow in its place continuing the devilish play.
Its a very good project in promoting Lahore. It might sound not much relevant but i want ask here that anybody remember the program used to be aired on Pakistan Television (PTV) in 90s, about Lahore Walled City, specifically. A very fine lady used to host that program, roaming in the streets and telling history and stories associated with significant places in walled city, and interviewing people in streets of walled city. I was very young at that time so i cannot remember the name of that program and name of that lady. If somebody knows about tv program i am talking about then please do share. That was a magnificent tv program, which i cannot expect nowadays.

The news about sexual exploitation of children in Husain Khan ,Gandapur is the talk of the town. Protests are being made against this terrible incident. It is horrific to learn the details of this mega sex scandal that happened in a small village of Kasur. According to the news reports this thing was going on for the last ten years. More than 280 boys and girls up to ten years of age were sexually abused under duress and threats to their live.
Some 20 – 25 criminals were involved in this sexual abuse of minor kids. They sexual abused them continuously with impunityt. The precinct police was not aware of this persistent barbaric activity. The made videos of these children in the act , and blackmailed their parents to extort large sums of money from them. How helpless these parents be that they did not report this criminal activities to the police or bring this into the notice of the civil administration ?
We have become a depraved and immoral society. plenty of such sexual abuse takes place here and nobody does nothing about it.. Although the Chief Minister Punjab has taken the notice and ordered Judicial Inquiry but there are less chances of anything happening soon. I would appeal to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of it.
The other event that I wanted to Discuss is the passage of 70 years when US dropped Atom Bombs on 6th August over Hiroshima , and another atom bomb on Nagasaki ,Japan. More than 90,000 persons were killed in one day in Hiroshima and another 39 ,000 in Nagasaki. Horrendous death, and destruction occurred in three days time apart.

I was born in Lahore 86 years ago in 1931, in an old house on Mohan Lal Road where my grandfather resided at that time. Later, I had my education at various schools in Gujarat and Mianwali where my father was posted. After Matriculation I joined the Government College Lahore and was living in the New Hostel till July 1947 when we had to leave our homeland due to tragic happenings beyond our control. All through all these 70 years I have been longing to visit Lahore at least once again, but it appears to be too late now. I was therefore filled with nostalgia when I chanced upon Lahore Nama and saw pictures of the present Mohan Lal Road which is now Urdu Bazar. It still looks like home although a bit too crowded and I can still imagine myself walking in the street and going to the temple, holding my grandfather’s hand.
.Thank you very much, Raza sahib, for reviving old memories and keeping the old bonds with Lahoe alive.Today all I can say to this wonderful city is: “kabhi hum or tum bhi they ashna, tumhe yaad ho ke na yaad ho!”.
