LAHORE: The 964th urs (death anniversary) of Hazrat Syed Ali bin Usman Hajvery (Data Gunj Bakhsh) will begin on February 26.
The three-day celebration will be jointly inaugurated by Governor Khalid Maqbool and Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (r) Ejaz Nisar with the traditional chador-laying ceremony and inaugurating a milk sabeel (free distribution of milk) at the shrine.
According to the Auqaf Department spokesman, the urs will have eight sessions based on spiritual enlightenment and spreading the message of Islam.
Auqaf, the host department, has allocated Rs 3 million for the urs.
In a meeting, Auqaf Secretary Raees Abbas Zaidi reviewed the arrangements for the event and constituted various committees of the management staff.
The prayers for the concluding session of the urs will be held on February 27 and February 28.
The officials appealed to the participants to take care of discipline and the shrine’s sanctity during the event. Auqaf urged the people to remain vigilant and inform the security about any dubious character spotted at the shrine to avert any untoward situation.
Mehfil-e-Mushaira at Data Darbar on Saturday: The second Mehfil-e-Mushaira (a poetry function) arranged in connection with the urs, will be held at Data Darbar on Saturday evening (tomorrow). Eminent poets from across Punjab will participate in it, according to a press release. app
