LAHORE, March 21 (APP): Eid Milad-un-Nabi ( Peace Be Upon Him) was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in the provincial metropolis on Friday (12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal), the birthday of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The Milad celebrations were in full swing right from Fajr with special prayers at mosques, religious seminaries and other Mahafil held in this regard.
Conferences and meetings on Seerat-un-Nabi were held in different parts of the city where speakers highlighted various aspects of ‘Uswa-e-Hasna’, the sacred life of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) as a constant source of guidance for the mankind.
Main procession of Milad was taken out from Lahore Railway Station at 10:00 a.m. under the aegis of Central Event Committee for Jashn-e-Eid Milad-un-Nabi, which was participated by a large number of fiathfuls reciting Darood, Naat and Hamd-o-Sana.
The PPP General Secretary Jahangir Badar and Committee’s President Al-Haaj Malik Aftab Rabbani inaugurated the main procession, while MPA Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain and Ejaz Gi performed the flag hoisting ceremony and former Justice Dr.Munir Mughal presided over the Seerat Conference. Hamid-ud-Din Al-Mashraqi led the main procession.
Prior to the procession, a Seerat Conference was also held and addressed by various relious scholars and ulema and mashaikh, who highlighted various apects of the sacred life of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Addressing the procession various speakers said that Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) always advocated for equality among human being and ensuring justice and other rights to them.
Scouts from various schools and colleges, national volunteers, Civil Defence, Labour Force, Janbaz Force, Police and Rangers presented salute on this auspicious occasion.
Rose-petals were also showered over the participants of the procession and the conference through an aeroplane.
The route of the procession was profusely decorated with bunting and banners inscribed with welcome notes for the Holy Prophet and welcome-stages were established at different points on the route. Public and private buildings, markets, houses, roads and streets were decorated in tasteful manner.
Various other Milad processions also joined the main processions at different places of the route. Special prayers were also offered for unity of Muslim Ummah, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The procession after passing through its tradition route of Railway Station, Australia Chowk, Brandreth Road, Guwal Mandi, Mayo Hospital, Abbock Road, Anarkali, Mori Darwaze and Bhati culminated at Data Darbar where Auqaf Administrator performed Dastar Bandi of the leaders of the procession.
The City District Government Lahore made elaborate arrangements to supply drinking water to the participants of the procession, besides providing them other gifts and edibles.
Medical camps were also set up to facilitate the participants of the procession, while Rescue 1122 Emergency Service, Bomb Disposal Squad, Fire Brigade, Civil Defence and Police personnel remained alert to deal with any untoward incident.
Mosques, religious seminaries, shrines, government buildings, houses, streets, bazaars, markets, and other public place have tastefully been decorated for the auspicious occasion. Mahafil naat and hamd-o-sana were also held in different places in the provincial capital.
Punjab government also made foolproof security arrangements for the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) to ensure peace and tranquillity throughout the province.
All District Nazims, Range DIGs and DPOs remained on duty to ensure checking of all vehicles along the routes of Eid Milad processions.
The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has launched a special cleanliness drive to remove solid waste from the routes of Milad processions, mosque-surroundings and other parts of the city.
The leaves of sanitation field staff have also been cancelled to ensure availability of maximum workers on 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
