The NEWS reports:
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday reiterated that he would convert the Punjab Chief Minister House into an information technology university after assuming power.
He was speaking at a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Pakistan to mark the Pakistan Day.
Shahbaz said the dictatorship in the country was on its last legs. He said the country was in the clutches of a dictator just one year ago and no one could imagine he would lose his grip on power. He said the dictatorship “wounded the nation” but now it was time that these wounds were healed.
He said the entire nation had sent a clear message to the undemocratic forces that their time had come to an end. He regretted that the dictator was still conspiring to derail the democratic process in the country. He said all efforts made by the undemocratic elements to derail the democracy in the country would be foiled.
The former Punjab chief minister said another era of development would start in the country very soon. He said real progress in the country was only possible when the poor population of the country was facilitated.
He said those who had claimed to work for a “Parha Likha Punjab” did nothing for the poor population of the province. The new coalition government, however, would take all steps to ensure provision of education to the children of poor. Children from poor families would get free education in professional institutions, he added.
He claimed that quality education and proper health facilities would be made available to the children of the poor. He said the PML-N’s plan was to make Pakistan as was dreamt by Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
Shahbaz said the PML-N would lead the country to progress and prosperity by implementing the Charter of Democracy. He said the Pakistan Day had assumed greater significance due to the victory of democratic forces and an end to the dictatorial rule. Sartaj Aziz, Majida Wyne and Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal were also present.

The CM secretariat is located in a residential area. As it is, it creates traffic and congestion issues. Although I welcome the use of the new use the building will be put to, I would like to point out:
– There should be adequate parking and access to the proposed IT university; and
– The park enclosed by the CM Secretariat should be returned to the people of Lahore.
Dear A R Alam
Many thanks for visiting and leaving the comment.
I agree with your points and I hope that the park is recovered for the public purpose.
As you are aware, your articles are great and Lahore Nama tries to share them with a wider internet readership – thanks
